About the Support Directory

What is the Support Directory?

The Abuse Support Network Support Directory lists organisations that help survivors of abuse. People contact you themselves, using your own details. We never ask for their story.

Why are you asking us to agree?

No organisation appears publicly in the directory until it has agreed to be listed. If we have written to you, that is what we are asking.

We checked your details on your own website before we wrote, so you can see exactly what your listing would say.

To agree, or to ask us to change something first, email us at info@abusesupportnetwork.org.uk.

Does it cost anything?

No. Listing is free for support organisations.

What your listing shows

What does a listing show?

  • your organisation’s name
  • where you work: the UK nations you cover
  • who you help, in a few plain words
  • the kinds of support you offer, shown as category labels
  • your phone line and its opening hours, if you have a line people can call for support
  • a Website button that opens the page on your own site where people can get help
  • the date we last checked your listing

Where did you get our details?

From your own website. We only list a support organisation after checking, on its own website, who it helps, where it works and how to contact it. We don’t copy facts from other websites, articles or summaries.

Can we appear in more than one category?

Yes. An organisation can appear in more than one category. If we have put you in the wrong one, or missed one, please email us at info@abusesupportnetwork.org.uk.

Does a listing say anything about the quality of our service?

No. A listing shows what we checked on your website, and when. We don’t rate organisations.

Keeping your listing right

How often do you check it?

We check each listing at least every six months, and helpline numbers and opening hours at least every three months. We also check that each web address still leads to the right organisation. Read how we check facts.

Something on our listing is wrong, or has changed. What should we do?

Please email us at info@abusesupportnetwork.org.uk. We’ll check it again at its source and correct it. We check every detail on your own website, so it helps if the change is shown there first.

We aren’t listed. Can we be?

Email us at info@abusesupportnetwork.org.uk if you run a support service and want to be listed. We list organisations that survivors can contact themselves. The categories list organisations, not individual people.

What if we change our minds?

No organisation appears publicly until it has agreed. If you agree and later change your mind, email us at info@abusesupportnetwork.org.uk and ask us to remove your listing.

What we do with information

Will you pass people’s details to us?

No. We never ask for anyone’s story, and we don’t pass anyone’s details to anyone. People who use the directory contact you themselves, if and when they want to.

What do you do with our contact details?

We use your details only to reply to you, and to check and keep your listing up to date. Read our Privacy page.

About us

What is Abuse Support Network?

We are an information service for survivors of abuse. We explain, in plain English, the help and the routes to justice that exist, and we point people to organisations they can contact themselves. We are not a helpline, a counselling service or a law firm. Read more about us.

Every detail on a listing is checked at its source, on the organisation’s own website.
