Psychotherapist vs counsellor: how the roles compare

Psychotherapists help people to overcome stress, emotional and relationship problems or troublesome habits. A psychotherapist may be a psychiatrist, a psychologist or another mental health professional with further training in psychotherapy. Counsellors offer a talking therapy, and other professionals, including psychotherapists and psychologists, can give counselling too.
