Expert witness training: writing reports and giving evidence
This category will list expert witness training: courses on writing reports for the court and giving evidence. In civil claims in England and Wales, the Civil Procedure Rules say an expert’s duty is to help the court, and that this duty overrides any obligation to whoever instructs or pays them (rule 35.3). Northern Ireland’s High Court guidance for experts says the same, and in Scotland the UK Supreme Court has referred to the duties of a skilled witness to be independent and impartial.
